The provincial route for people who start or buy a business in B.C. Once approved, you come on a work permit, run the business, meet your performance agreement, get nominated, then apply to IRCC for permanent residence. The federal Start-up Visa stopped taking new applications on 2025-12-31.

Who qualifies
Eligibility
- 01Base: personal net worth at least C$600,000, investment at least C$200,000, at least 3 years as a business owner-manager in the last 10 years
- 02Regional: personal net worth at least C$300,000, investment at least C$100,000, at least 3 years as a business owner-manager in the last 5 years
- 03Regional: business in a participating community outside Metro Vancouver, with an exploratory visit and a community referral
- 04Both: create at least 1 full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; language at CLB 4
