Work experience

Only experience in the same NOC as the job offer, within the last 10 years, counts; part-time counts at 50%. 5 years or more: 20; 4 years: 16; 3 years: 12; 2 years: 8; 1 year: 4; under 1 year: 1. At least 1 year of directly related experience in Canada adds 10; currently working full-time in B.C. for the supporting employer in the same occupation adds another 10.

Education

Only the highest credential counts: doctorate 27, master's 22, post-graduate certificate or diploma 15, bachelor's 15, associate degree 5, post-secondary diploma or trades certificate 5, high school or less 0. Completing that credential in B.C. adds 8, or elsewhere in Canada adds 6; an eligible B.C. professional designation adds 5.

Language

Points follow your lowest CLB across listening, speaking, reading and writing: CLB 9+ 30, 8 25, 7 20, 6 15, 5 10, 4 5. CLB 4 or higher on both an English and a French test adds 10.

Wage

Points come from the hourly wage in the job offer: the whole-dollar wage minus 15. C$16.00 to 16.99 gives 1 point, C$48.00 to 48.99 gives 33, and C$70 or more gives the maximum 55; below C$16 gives 0. An annual salary converts as salary / 52 / weekly hours, with hours counted between 30 and 40; bonuses, commissions and overtime are excluded. A wage inflated to raise the score leads to refusal.

Area of employment

Metro Vancouver Regional District: 0. Squamish, Abbotsford, Agassiz, Mission and Chilliwack: 5. All other areas: 15. If the job is outside Metro Vancouver, one year of full-time work outside Metro Vancouver within 5 years, or graduating within 3 years from a public B.C. institution outside Metro Vancouver, adds 10.

The same person at CLB 9 would gain 5 points; with a job in Area 3 they would gain 15.

Draw minimums

Registrations stay in the pool for up to 12 months. Invitations are targeted by provincial priority, and each draw has its own minimum: on 2026-09-24 the Innovate points draw closed at 131, while the Innovate wage draw that day used no score, inviting TEER 0 to 3 offers at C$52/hour and C$105,000/year; on 2026-09-10, Care: Health closed at 76, Care: Childcare at 99 and Build: Construction at 94. You may hold only one active registration or application at a time, and the same registration is ranked by score and can also be invited on wage criteria.

Requirements and process are on the BC PNP program page.
